The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a self-help learning organisation for people who have completed their career or finished raising a family. It means they have the time to enrich their lives with new skills and experiences, pursue their interests, form new friendships and enjoy a sense of belonging to a vibrant community.
The U3A is different from most other adult learning organisations. Rather than paying people to teach, we encourage members to share their knowledge and talents with other members. This self-help model empowers us to create our own opportunities to learn in the ways that suit us best. As a result, members contribute to a wide range of engaging and stimulating interest groups in an atmosphere of mutual support and companionship. Because they reflect the individual wishes of their members, all U3As are different - but they all deliver a life-enhancing experience.
So welcome to Bourne U3A and to learning, laughing and living.
Monthly Meetings are normally held on the third Monday in each month at the Bourne Corn Exchange (now labelled as South Kesteven Community Access Point and Library), at 2.15 pm where members are both educated and entertained by a variety of specially invited speakers.
This is followed by light refreshments in a convivial atmosphere where old friendships are renewed and new ones made. Visitors are welcome. The entry cost is £1 per meeting and visitors can attend two meetings before deciding whether to join when the annual membership fee is £10.

During the month around sixty special interest groups meet and to attend these, you must be a member of U3A. We cannot promise currently that there will be spaces in all groups but information regarding each of these can be obtained by clicking here.
All those who are either semi-retired or retired and who are still interested in keeping their mind and body active by learning new skills, or perhaps those who have skills which they are prepared to share with others, have an open invitation to join us and help build an even stronger U3A for the people of Bourne and the surrounding villages. For further information or if you have any questions please feel free to make contact by e-mail or phone 0845 519 1385
